Herman Helmer's Bakery latest stunt
Hurrah for heavy cakes and coffee! As well as being able to buy feather-light cakes at Hermann Helmer’s bakery near Pulchowk, you can now buy Top of the World Coffee’s international and local freshly roasted and ground organic coffees.
The real bonus is that you can also pick up a 3 cup of 6 cup coffee pot to prepare Kathmandu’s best tasting coffee.
Goes very well with cake. But whoever Hermann Helmer is, I am sure he would recommend beer with a World Cup match.

Manual coffee grinder available in Kathmandu
Someone once asked me if manual coffee grinders could be bought in Nepal for taking on a trek. If you have something like that for a trek, then you can take beans which obviously remain fresher for longer than ground coffee.
I don’t know what my answer until stumbling into Nepal Organic Coffee Products shop in the A1 Bazaar in Thamel. See the map below for location, which is near to the Everest Bank.

Beans coffee is now also stocking espresso pots
Beans Cafe lies at Kupondol, from way inside kan deuta and in front of Nepal Rastra Bank. Well place is quite simple and cozy. You can get Varites of coffee there. Also some bakery items and sandwich. My Favorite is cheese cake. Price is also very much reasonable there. Plus people are also very nice and warm.
Dale at Top of the World Coffee is now stocking a coffee pots. He is pretty special in Kathmandu as he roasts and grinds all of his coffee to order. He is perhaps the most experienced coffee taster in Kathmandu. Perhaps only Mr Gagan at Himalayan Java is trained in coffee tasting.
Anyway, you can order your coffee online and they will deliver to your door free, within the ringroad.

From today you can buy both very good coffee and coffee pots with which to prepare it in The Organic Village. Its on the road somewhere between Pulchowk and Greenwich Village hotel / Summit hotel. Also close to the SNV office and Sagarmatha FM – you’ll see the big FM tower.
On the Kathmandu side, you can find in Café Society, Café Gaia and maybe soon Arneko skate-board shop in Sagamatha bazaar.
